Liberal Democrat Leader the Rt. Hon. Nick Clegg MP joined the Skip2bfit national school campaign at Nether Green Junior School on Friday 12th June to add his support to the launch of the skip2Bfit initiative in Yorkshire. Mr Clegg saw a class in action and took up the skip2Bfit team's challenge himself, to see how many skips he could actually do in 2 minutes. Despite not being an experienced skipper, he achieved a very respectable 152 skips and is now 16th in the Skip2bfit national MP leader board which can be seen at by clicking here . The competition was all in good fun with the important skip2bfit message, it is not who does the most but the fact that everyone can improve, if they want to. Mr Clegg described the event as absoultly brilliant when he addressed the school at the end of the day.
The children all had a great time and the top skippers were rewarded with a certificate presented by Mr Clegg along with a skip2bfit polo shirt and a skip2bfit 2012 gold medal, to raise the children’s awareness of the forthcoming games in London. Dave Gibson from Skip2bfit said “ I was really pleased that Mr Clegg actually skipped with the children for the full two minutes as it shows a great message to the children that skipping is for everyone and now they can go home and skip with their grown ups.Skip2bfit digital counting ropes are fully adjustable for both children and adults to challenge each other. It was great for the children to be given blueberries and a health leaflet after skipping as the best time to introduce children to healthy food is after exercise.”
The top skippers who won the Skip2bfit Polo Shirts and 2012 Gold Medals were Kareem who did 369 skips in 2 minutes , the top teacher was Mr Lomas with 237 skips in 2 minutes. Any schools who would like a visit from Skip2bfit they can be contacted here.
