March 2010
TDC Thanet schools Skip2bfit Challenge Event 2010

We held our 7th Annual Skip2bfit Thanet Primary Schools Skipping Challenge day on the morning of 26th March 2010 at Ramsgate Sports Centre. The event was supported by TDC, Thanet Leisure Force, Winterwood Farms and Sainsbury’s and every Primary school in Thanet was invited to attend this free event.

We had 13 teams attending with 4 girls and 4 boys in each team. Prizes are awarded for the top teams in junior and infant categories. The juniors were totally dominated by defending champions St Peter’s this year, who won the individual cup, the doubles cup, the quartet cup and the School Challenge Cup. The team put in a great performance with the top skipper  achieving a high score of 325 skips in 2 minutes. St Peters run a skip2bfit lunchtime club and this made a huge difference in the outcome today.

Also performing well this year was Priory Infants who took a clean sweep of the infant Cups.

Rt. Hon Roger Gale MP and Rt. Hon Steve Ladyman MP attended this year to hand out prizes together with Thanet South Conservative Parliamentary Candidate Laura Sandys. There was also a special appearance from the  Skip2bfit mascot,  Mr Blueberry.

The  Best Effort Cup was given to Haddon Dene school this year for their support in coming along every year to this event. For the last two years they have brought along both a Junior and an infant team coming third in the Junior section overall  and third in the Top Teacher competition.

Skip2bfit would like to thank all the schools who made the effort to bring their children along to this event. The children attending were all given a free skip2bfit rope, London 2012 skip2bfit gold medal and Blueberry Bounce Ball. There were also Sainsbury's Active Kids goodies and water provided courtesy of sainsbury's . There was free fruit  available on the day, from Skip2bfit sponsor’s Winterwood Farms. The day was also sponsored by Thanet district council and thanet leisure Force who funded the morning. The results were as follows for a 2 minute skip:-
